Assists you in magnifying and resizing images.
Often when zooming into a photograph taken from a point-and-shoot camera, you're likely to see pixelation. SmillaEnlarger is a program which was designed to help de-blur and sharpen images which have been enlarged.
The truth of the matter is that television programs like CSI which are able to turn 25 pixels into a true representation of somebody's face is not realistic and not much more than a Hollywood fabrication. Although in other cases, SmillaEnlarger can help to sharpen and improve the perceived quality of an image. In fact, it doesn't really sharpen but more softens pixels so it looks more natural.
Using SmillaEnlarger is not difficult and only involves selecting a photo, zooming in by selecting an area and adjusting certain filters like Sharpness, PreSharpen, DeNoise, Flatness and Dithering. Playing around with the settings while paying attention to the preview is a good way to achieve optimal results.
All-in-all, SmillaEnlarger encorporates some of the methods we've seen in professional applications like Lightroom but only on a very small and more-limited scale.
